What is Fontjoy?

Fontjoy is a free web-based tool that generates harmonious font pairings using deep learning, eliminating the manual trial-and-error of selecting complementary typefaces. The tool uses a neural network to analyze hundreds of typefaces and produce combinations that balance thematic coherence with visual contrast, a task that traditionally relies on designer intuition.

The interface operates through three primary actions: users click "Generate" to produce new random pairings, "Lock" to keep preferred fonts in place while regenerating alternatives, and "Edit" to manually select specific typefaces. The preview text is fully editable, allowing designers to test pairings against their actual company names or marketing copy in real time. Each generated combination displays two primary fonts alongside a preview, showing how they interact at different weights and sizes.
